The beginning of the 20th century. Latest expedition, directed by Przewalski, Littledale and Hedin, begun a journey. There was just one purpose – to conquer cold and inaccessible expanse of Change Tang. Regrettably, the voyage became rough – a majority of animals, which carried an essential equipment, died out of emaciation and the team members found themselves on the edge of exhaustion. All the expedition labours suffered a defeat. Till nowadays, almost each subsequent attempt of exploration of the Chang Tang have turned into failure.

The main and only aim of my solitary expedition is a bike tour through the northern part of the Chang Tang area located in the north-west of Tibet. Apparently, the planned route has never been travelled across yet. My aspiration is to get on a bike from Kathmandu through the Gerze village placed in the central Tibet and to aim to the north for a deserted and inaccessible area situated on the average altitude of five thousand meters above sea level. All that leads to the final goal, which is the inhabited village Karasay to be found on the edge of the Taklamakan desert. Almost certainly, I won’t be having an opportunity to meet a man during that time and I will be forced to face a conation of biking on passes of altitudes much higher then elevations of the uppermost located roads on the world. I will fight with forceful winds, snowstorms and temperatures lessening below minus 30 degrees at night.

The successful completion of this outline would confirm the assumption, that crossing the Chang Tang area does not require an involvement of huge animal caravans or a fleet of jeeps featured with the most advanced technology.
